Yes, people love to share their trips in social media. While sharing some information and photos of your trip has become quite common, there are some social media tips to follow when you are on a trip. Here are some of them:

·         Slow down on the posting.

This is the first social media tip that you should keep in mind. Sure, a picture of you having some drinks by the beach may make your profile look more cool and inviting but it may spell danger to you and to your family members and even your home. Why is this so? If you will post photos real time, then you are telling everyone that you are in a faraway land having some fun and this will also tell criminals that there is no one at your home and that they can enter it and grab everything they can and you can not do anything about it. The next time you are tempted to post photos of your trips,  think about this scenario. That may be enough to put some sense into your head.

·         Establish some rules on how much you should share in social media.

In the event that you cannot prevent yourself from posting on social media while you are away, the best thing that you can do is to be sensible about what you post. You can surely share photos of your food but do not check in at the restaurant where you are eating. Switch off the add location option to your tweets and IG posts. Once you have established the rules, tell all of your family members (if you are on a family trip) to stick to the established rules.

If you are connected to Foursquare, your location will automatically be updated everytime you post a status or share a photo. Turn it off so people won’t know where you are or that you are on a vacation.
