Four Kuala Lumpur Side Trips Worth Considering

Many people think that the only reason why they should visit Kuala Lumpur is to see the Petronas Towers, nothing more. For your information, Kuala Lumpur offers a wide array of activities and places to visit. In fact, you can stay for a week there and you will still have plenty of things to do.

In the event that you get a little bored in KL, you will be happy to know that there are some great day trips that you can take in order to have a breathe of fresh air. Once you have seen the amazing wonders of Malaysia, here are some more places out of Malaysia that you can visit:

ñ  Kuala Selangor
Kuala Selangor is actually a nature park that features 3 kilometers of forest reserve that is well known for its mangrove swamps. In addition to that, it is known to be the home to thousands of kelip kelip or fireflies. As you drift down the Selangor River in a traditional sampan during night time, you can enjoy the illumination of pulsing lights that the fireflies emit. For your information, this is the only place where you can experience this amazing sight.
ñ  Melaka
This place has actually been colonized by Dutch, Portuguese and British people for the past centuries. This place is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site and can be traveled by foot. This is actually the most touristy place that you can ever see with its diverse architecture along with a happening art scene and amazing cuisines to try.
ñ  Genting Highlands
Kuala Lumpur is beautiful but it can be one of the hottest places that you can ever get to visit. That is why you need to get away from it for a while in order to cool down and the best place to head to is no other than the Genting Highlands. To get here, you will have to ride on the longest sky cable car that you can ever see in Asia. Upon arriving there, you can get to choose from casinos, theme parks, resorts and jungle trails.
ñ  Batu Caves
Since it is just 13 km away from the city, this is considered to be the most popular Malaysian side trip. The best thing that you can ever see here is the 143 feet high gold statue. The place has three main caves which you can get to see after you climb 272 steps while you protect yourself against aggressive monkeys. It's like you are in a real life video game!

These amazing places are definitely a must visit and the best thing about these is that they are very easy to go to. In fact, it can be one bus or train ride away from KL and you can already enjoy the amazing things that these places have to offer. For your KL trip, I highly recommend that you add a few more days so that you will have time to see these places.
