I bet
most of you haven’t been to or even heard of Kuching, Malaysia. Being away from
Malaysia’s main peninsula, this place isn’t usually visited by tourists. But,
I’m telling you, you are missing out on so much. Kuching has a rich culture and
has lots of activities for you to take part in. In addition to that, it offers
friendly locals and great views which you will definitely enjoy. Since this
place isn’t a common tourist destination, you’ll get the
perk of showing this place off to your friends when you do decide to
go there, which we highly recommend. Once you’re there, you’ll definitely see
that Kuching was totally worth visiting.
Culture and History
Kuching
has a rich culture. Being found along the Sarawak River, it shows a diversity
of Asian cultures, so you get a mix of everything here. Aside from that, it
also has a rich history owing to its years being under colonial rule by various
countries like Great Britain and Japan. But, way before that, of course Kuching
already had its own civilization though not as advanced as in other countries.
Around the area, there are also great
parks and forests for an educational and relaxing experience.
Convenient Transportation
Being a
small but busy area, it is easy to get around Kuching. With numerous
transportation options like buses, vans, cabs and even boats, it’ll be a breeze
to get to your desired destination. Or if you’re low on budget, you can just
walk your way to it since Kuching is quite a small place. So you wouldn’t need
to worry about those long, tiring walks.
Glorious Food and Drinks
If
you’re a foodie, Kuching can provide you with a lot of food options at very affordable
prices. You can try the Sarawak laksa which is a traditional Malaysian dish
which is definitely worth savoring every bite, so make sure you get a hold of
one. Aside from Malaysian food, you can also get a taste of Filipino food from
Pinoy Fiesta which offers great Filipino cuisine. And if you need to freshen up
with drinks, there are lots of great cafes around the city like Jase’s Tea Room
and White Lady at the Hui Sing Hawker Center.
You may
think that this city may be quiet at night, but think again, because Kuching
has an awesome and wild nightlife. With a lot of clubs and pubs, you’ll get to
enjoy partying until morning comes around Kuching. For football fans, you can
head over to Picadilly Pub to watch a game or two to start your night. Or if you
want to grab some drinks, you can go to Grappa which offers great beer and is
also a great place to party on the dance floor. And if you’re up to show off
your singing skills, you can head over to the Junkbar for an awesome and fun
night with karaoke. You can end your night at Link, which offers a full 360 degree view of the city. With the bright
lights being lit up by the skyscrapers around, it’ll definitely be worth a
view.
