How to Sleep Better at the Airport


Sleeping at the airport can be very inconvenient; however, there are times that you cannot avoid it due to inevitable circumstances.  This may happen if there is a delay or cancellation of flights. It will help if  you will be able to get some sleep while waiting at the airport.  That can help you feel well and look refreshed upon arriving to your destination.  Below are some tips to be able to sleep at the airport.


Get what you need.  The advantage is that you may have the accessories you need on hand to nap or sleep. If not, you can find the sleeping mask and earplugs at airport shops.  You can also use your sweater or coat to keep you warm or to be your temporary pillow.


Find a comfortable seat. The best ones are those that are far from the crowd.  Choose an area where you think there are lesser people and noise.


Make sure to protect your belongings.  You will be hesitant to sleep if you are worrying about your belongings. Make sure that money and important documents are kept accordingly, if possible with you.  If you are travelling with someone, you can take turns in watching over your baggage.


Utilize the reception room.  Try checking if you can stay to an available lounge since it will be more comfortable. Some airports allow passengers to make use of them for free. 


Ask for hotel vouchers.  Most airlines provide vouchers if the passengers experience inconvenience due to flight cancellations and delays.  You can politely inquire so that you will know if you can get a meal or a room overnight for free.


Wake up on time. Make sure that you are able to wake up right on time.  If needed, set your alarm clock ahead of time.  Give yourself sufficient time to refresh and take a meal before the scheduled flight.
