Just like any
other tourist destinations around the globe, you must know the advisable
seasons to visit them. As a general rule of the thumb, it’s best to avoid
traveling during peak months such as summer or Christmas season. The rates at
this time is much expensive and it’s quite inconvenient to roam around knowing
that you’ll get swarmed by other tourists like you. What you must know before
you plan your trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the extreme weather conditions.
The country has only two main season, winter from mostly December to February
and it is drought for the rest of the months.
If you came from
countries with naturally cold climates such as UK, Canada, or America, you
might be overwhelmed with the weather of UAE during summer. The temperature can
increase more than 40◦C from June to September, and quite frankly it is the
normal weather in the country. So if you are not a fun of intense sun, then
plan your visit during cold seasons starting in December and can last until the
March. But don’t expect a snow to suddenly fall down from the sky. Winter means
that the humid will be just colder and temperature can decrease up to 7◦C even
though the sun is very high.
Sand dune adventures
in Abu Dhabi and water-sport activities in Yas Island are two of the
must-try outdoor ventures which is best done during winter season. You can
truly enjoy without fearing for sun burn and dehydration. In case you’re
planning to visit UAE during summer, keep in mind to wear loose fitting clothes
and drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.
Buying gadgets
such as smartphones or any branded items are surprisingly low priced at UAE.
It’s because the government didn’t particularly prioritize in taxing on such
commodities, same applies to Saudi Arabia. But if you are a true shopaholic,
you must know that
shopping is best done in the Malls of Abu Dhabi and Dubai during the end of Ramadan and the National Day Celebration. You
can get signature items at a very low cost. From make-up, bags, shoes and even
food items are on sale. Everything is 50-70% discounted.
If you must
visit this city during Ramadan, you must conform to the customs and pay
respects to the Muslim people around you. Don’t drink or eat in front of them
during the day since they are fasting and they can only break it during Fatur
(breakfast which is done after Magrib Prayers usually around 6-7pm). Some
restaurants that observe Ramadan and they are also close the entire day.
UAE is a country
that offers luxury and modernity. But comparing to other destinations such as
Las Vegas, Austratlia, and Italy, the price you will spend in this marvelous
city is considerably less expensive. Although the country focus on bridging the
gap between East and West, it’s still an Islamic country with strict values.
Therefore, you must be aware of their customs in order not to offend anyone
around you.
