Ways to Sleep Better at the Hotel

For some people, it’s difficult to achieve a deep sleep if you’re not in your own bed and you’re not using your favorite life sized pillow. Dinging elevators, noisy room neighbors, and rattling ice machines are the last thing you want when concentrating to have that deep sleep. Here are some of the tips you could apply to sleep better in your hotel room.
Requesting a Desirable Room Location. There are certain techniques in finding a room that is conducive for snoozing. Your first option is to choose a midway room along the hallway. You’ll be far away from guest laundry facility, elevator, stairwell exits, and even exhaust fans. If you have the financial capacity, request for a room on a suite or concierge level that has taller ceilings which will give much air space from those guests above you. Though rooms facing a pool gives you a great view, remember that this area is always used for late-night gathering which can be pretty disturbing for you.
Inquire if there is any Ongoing Renovations. Hotels are regularly having maintenance in order to promote their quality and it’s usually done in segments. When making a reservation, let them know that you don’t want your room to be adjacent on floors that are currently being renovated. And, you most certainly want your room on the newly renovated floors since they are cleaner and have newer beds and linens.
Be Particular on Sleeping Accessories. Rooms should have blackout shades made from heavy and thick curtains that can help you sleep during daytime. It’s also important that you’re in a non-smoking room. Though you’re not a smoker, the scent of nicotine from previous guest will surely linger in the room which will make you unease. Don’t be ashamed to ask for pillows. Frequently, the hotel will only provide two pillows for each room. If you’re travelling with a group of people, it’s necessary to ask for another bed or even a bigger room so that everyone has their own bed to sleep in.
Adapt some Effective Sleeping Rituals. Drinking a warm glass of milk an hour before you sleep can help you snooze easily and gain that deep rejuvenating sleep. Never forget to bring your own earplugs to prevent those noises from disturbing you. If you got a lot of space in your suitcase, then it would be ideal if you bring along your own sheets especially for those who have sensitive skin. However, pillow cases is enough instead of toting along the entire bedding. Set up those scented aroma candles to mask the unpleasant smell of detergent and other cleaning chemicals in the room. However, most hotels don’t permit lighting up a candle inside the room. In case so, just spray on a relaxing perfume preferably those with hints of green tea and chamomile to create a relaxing ambience.
Modify your Eating and Sleeping Pattern. Never have a heavy meal before sleeping as it will cause indigestion and stomach upsets. If you’ve decided to create some sleep, turn off everything including your smartphone. And never attempt to read or do your work in bed.
